The proto pipe was designed in America in the early 60's and has been a popular choice all over the world ever since, due to it's compact size, smooth smoke and storage ability. It has a built in cleaning pick which also acts as a poker for the bowl. The design of the bowl eliminates the need for messy gauzes, it has a solid brass gauze built in, with a removable bowl that collects the oils and tars. We seriously recommend this one for all you old hippies out there!
Proto Pipe brought sheer convenience to pipe smokers and enthusiasts alike with a clever design, by attaching often used pipe accessories to a pipe! Proto Pipe Deluxe original is a permanent screen-less pipe built-in with a storage compartment, and a cleaning poker rod. Made from solid brass and brass components, the Proto Pipe will never break, is really easy to clean, fits in any pocket and will last a lifetime. Proto Pipes features include; a deep bowl with a swivel lid, a storage unit fastened directly in the body which holds 5 bowls worth of herb and also works as a bowl tamper, a strong cleaning poker rod used to clean most parts of the pipe, a rubber mouthpiece and a Tar Trap found directly underneath the bowl that removes for complete cleaning. Made in the USA.
Use the handy poker to stir the bowl & clean permanent screen.
◾When assembled, the poker interlocks & holds all the parts together.
◾If friction fit poker becomes too loose or tight, bend the tab on the side of container with pliers to adjust the tension.
◾Tar trap is removed by pushing through centerhole with poker. If it is really hard to do so, hold your proto pipe upside down with the poker inserted in the centerhole and tap the poker on hard surface until the trap starts to move.
◾If trap is glued into pipe by hardened tar, heat the bottom of pipe to soften tar, before trying to remove.
◾To clean pipe stem, break off the head of a paper match, fold & push through as shown using the blunt end of the poker. (Trap must be out when cleaning stem)
◾Concave tar trap is cleaned with the scoop of tobacco container.
